BARIKADAA beginings of Czech group Ador Dorath dated from the 1997 year. They played than mostly cover songs of groups as a Moonspell and Samael. During the forthcoming period, they changed a formation several times, and line-up stabilized in 2001. After that, band started seriously to work on forthcoming debut material. "Adon Nin Edeleth" band released in 2002 and before some time "Shindy Productions", re-issued an album, so band started with new marketing circle. Ador Doath is a very interesting outfit. We could threat their approach as sorts of few equal idioms as a :black, death, doom, symphonic and even progressive details. A dualitis between male and female voices create an interesting balance, and expander arrangements works and refine song structures offers exceptional realizations. Some members from band also performs in other groups with different styles approaches, and it´s clear that practically complete band consists of excelent musicians. Ador Dorath with their debut respectable capabilitis, so it would be nice that band in the future rich better positions for themselves. publishing date: 07.04.2005 author: Branimir Lokner rating: 9/10 GOTHMETALThe Czech band Ador Dorath released their first album Adon Nin Edeleth Ador Dorath in 2002. Although not really instantly we still decided to review this piece of Metal after all. Inside this full 9 (or 10 if including bonus track) song record you will find a solid Black Metal record, not more, not less. Don´t expect any special tweaks or the like, stuff like this has been heard before. That doesn´t mean it´s bad, it is done well and if you like this kind of Metal then you will like this record as well. For this reason I´m not gonna review the album track by track but give a general overview of the songs, their quality and their weaknesses. The good things are for sure the record quality, the instruments and vocals are mixed well (although it has some weaknesses in background sounding a bit "washy", yet many bands of that genre do) and the guys (and gal) know what they´re doing. They do not only operate with aggressive tunes and screaching vocals but also include instrumentals on this record. The songs, in spite of having the usual backdrop of many of this kind of Metal by sounding a bit similar, still all have something distinctive. The clear female vocals are a good contrast to the screachy or grunting male ones, making for a neat listening experience. I have to add here that one of their songs got me thinking a Cradle of Filth track got between theirs since it sounds very... "inspired" by them (to say the least). Guitar, keyboard and drums hold firmly with the performance by doing a well job without showing anything extraordinaire. They insert slower parts into some songs, but even summed up that´s pretty rare. So what can I say as a final word about this work? As I said before, if you are into Black Metal of the more original kind, you are right with this record. If you look for new impulses though, you should not consider getting this one most likely, publishing date: 08.06.2005 author: Nitewolf rating: 7/10 GRAVE WEBZINEADOR DORATH, the seven piece from the Czech Republic, came into being at the end of 1997. Initially planned as a side project, covering songs by the likes of SAMAEL and MOONSPELL, things quickly became more serious, but it was only in 2001 that the band could finally boast a stable line-up. In early 2002, they ventured into the Blue Studio in Trinec to record their debut album Adon Nin Edeleth Ador Dorath. The first seconds of the opener Ubique Daemon leave little doubt as to the approach taken by ADOR DORATH, namely Symphonic Black Metal, with a touch of Death Metal thrown in for good measure. At times, the sound is reminiscent of both of the genre’s standard bearers, CRADLE OF FILTH and DIMMU BORGIR, but is by and large somewhat more brutal than the latter. Adon Nin Edeleth Ador Dorath is a surprisingly strong debut album. The song writing hints at a band that’s been together for quite a while and the production is superb for a self financed debut. The keyboards are very prominent, but they don’t overpower the guitars, which are pretty chunky, and vary between razor sharp riffs and more melodic moments. The combined male vocals of Ivos Dosedel, Kamil Pfeffer and Pavel Lysek, the variations between spoken parts, growls and screams, and the layering, work especially well. Lenka Machová’s operatic voice, which is not a million miles from NIGHTWISH’s Tarya, further adds to the vocal kaleidoscope. Unfortunately, far too often she resorts to the typical, and very irritating ah-ah-aaaaahhhhh, which detracts from some of the songs greatly, and is probably the album’s greatest fault in my opinion (apart from the unbearable untitled track at the end, a ‘remixy’ kind of piece sounding more like a damaged CD than music). Although Symphonic Black Metal isn’t really my thing, I have to admit this isn’t bad at all. author: David Butler Manning rating: 6,5/10 LORDS OF METALThis self-produced CD was already released by Czech band Ador Dorath back in 2002. The disc contains well-balanced symphonic black metal with female vocals and male screams. Of course this recipe sounds very familiar. Although there are the necessary Cradle Of Filth influences Ador Dorath does stand out from the masses. The aggressive black is not for sissies. It is combined with hysterical passages and more doom inspired soundscapes. Influences of bands like Arcturus are audible. However, the music is mostly epic. The songs are well written and every instrument takes part for a reason. There is no room for boredom. The production is good for a debut album although the snare could have sound more natural on the midtempo part of 'Metamorphoses'. On the experimental songs Covenant style this does not bother at all. This black piece of metal is well suited for long winter nights at the hearth. Let the summer end already. author: Wilf rating: 80/100 METAL COVENANTAdor Dorath from the Czech republic have sent us their Adon Nin Edeleth Cd. This band contains seven members, so the quick minded could perhaps figure this one out: It's about symphonic black metal. Ador Dorath hasn't missed any of the vital ingredients for making this kind of metal - whispering voices/vocals, female vocals, violin, cello, and of course there is the keyboard. The tracks on Adon Nin Edeleth contain heavy and mighty eposes. Spontaneously I think of The Cradle Of Filth Vempire - Dark Fairytales Of Phallufstein Mcd. There is kind of the same intensity and arrangements, especially regarding the vocal parts, booth the darker and the female vocals. Maybe I shouldn't draw to many parallels between these mentioned bands, since Ador Dorath have something more than Cradle Of Filth. Aggression, to be precise. I think that Ador Dorath has the strength to stand on their own feet, as they are very skilled musicians. And they are able to do these unexpected things in their arrangements and song writing, like on the Garden Of Earthly Pleasures for example. A plus also for the good production. Not to high keyboards, that usually are present when it's about this kind of metal, and tend to be "drowning" the whole soundpicture. After all this is an ok album, but to be honest this type of black metal perhaps isn't my cup of tea. But everyone deserves a chance, and Ador Dorath do their thing well. So if you liked the older Cradle Of Filth and are into bands like Dimmu Borgir or Elvira Madigan, you surely will enjoy this one. author: Tim rating: 6/10 MUSIC EXTREMEDarkness has found new ways to achieve humanity. And Ador Dorath is one of them. Their music is aggressive and at the same time extremely dark. Full of guitar riffs buta lso of dark passages where cellos, keyboards and female vocals find their place. And this contrast and interaction between aggressive parts and dark ones is the heart and soul of Ador Dorath´s vocals. do you want screams and deathly vocals? Here you have plenty of them and also you have beautiful ethereal female vocals that show a different side of the musical personality of this band. There are passages where you can almost feel yourself lost in a dark wood while it is raining . Just check "Arcan Artis" to see how this guys manage perfectly the art of taking darkness directly into your brain (this is a tracks with oly keyboards and sounds that soon connects with "Metamorphoses"). There is really good musicianship here too making each composition a masterpiece in darkness. Ador Dorath deserves a place in the Olympus of the darkest of metals !!! publishing date: 01.02.2005 author: Federico METAL MAYHEM ZINESeven piece Ador Dorath are a very interesting band, they play highly competent, aggressive gothic with black influences and definitely have a lot going for them. The songs have a lot of structure and have lots of things going on at the same time. The great thing is the songs never sound too crammed which can totally ruin the overall effect. The harsh male and the clean, almost operatic female vocals work very well together, almost like good vs. evil and the music, well, what can I say is absolutely first class! the dual guitars are great and the keyboards and synths come in at just the right time and never wimp out the sound. I can't remember the last time I heard an album with so much to listen to on it. "Adon Nin Edeleth" is an album that's a joy to listen to over and over again. I do have to admit the first time I listen to this I wasn't at all impressed, but the more I listened to it, the more I realized the complexity and how atmospheric the overall album was. Ador Dorath is a name hopefully we will all be hearing about soon. author: Chris rating: 9/10 METAL RAGEThe year 2004 was nearly at its end, and I had a favorite album of the year, Enslaved's 'Isa' was truely the best album I'd heared in 2004. But in the last week of 2004 I received a cd in my mailbox..... Ador Dorath's 'Adon Nin Edeleth Ador Dorath', which totally overruled 'Isa'. Ador Dorath's beginning was in 1997. It was just a project which played covers of Moonspell and Samael. During the years members left the band and were replaced by others. The present state was reached in March 2001. Later on the band was named Ador Dorath. The music is comparable to Cradle Of Filth, but in my opinion it's way better than COF. The band itself describes its style as "sympho blackdoom-death metal or any other obscure psychotic mysteries". It includes great female opera vocals. I know that the last couple of years we were overfloated with gothic opera metal bands like Nightwish, Within Temptation etc. But on this album I really liked these vocals. They are just a part of the vocals, so it is not overdone. The male vocals are great as well. The singer can, just like Dani Filth create lots of different voices, but way better. The sound of this cd is remarkably good although this cd is released without a label. The songs are super as well. The bandmembers surely know how to use their musical talents. The songs are well composed. My favorite song on this albums is without a doubt 'Garden Of Earthly Pleasures'. It starts with a punk like drum intro but after about 23 seconds it turns into a nice double bass part, with Dimmu Borgir or Old Man's Child like guitar and synth riffs. When I put this cd in my player for the first time I immediately noticed that the first track had to be multimedia, because of the fact it had a playtime of 16 seconds, but there was no sound. So I put the cd in my computer and indeed a multimedia part opened. It includes the band history, some band pictures and a weblink. As I said before, this album was released without a label, But Ador Dorath did a great job, not just the album is has a great production, but the booklet looks nice too. It's just a pity that the cd is a CD-R so it causes problems on elder cd-players. But that is just a small minus. A bigger minus is the last track on this album, which is untitled. I think it is a remix, but they shouldn't have put it on the cd. publishing date: 09.01.2005 author: Arcane rating: 93/100 PULL THE CHAINCzech Republic has always been renowned for producing top quality original and innovative metal bands. For the first paper issues of «Pull The Chain» (newsletter), we regularly praised the abilities of the ex Czechoslovakia acts to compose innovative music. Tremendous acts such as Master’s Hammer , Silent Stream Of Godless Elegy, Agony or above all Forgotten Silence released fantastic (always strange) albums. Ador Dorath can be added to the list. As one of the forthcoming leaders in the creative fields, you can expect from this band a very accomplished piece of strange black gothic folk metal that sounds so personal, it's hard to believe. With such innovative acts, you never quite know what to expect when listening for the very first time as those musicians have the ability to mix the usual metal, folk, gothic elements in a very disturbing way. Again, not black, folk and gothic in the generally accepted sense of the traditional combination. One particular feature of Ador Dorath’s music is thus that the traditional folk or gothic influences are not used as musical background… all the different elements are generally all present at the same time. «Adon Nin Edeleth Ador Dorath» is for my opinion one of this year’s top releases… so don’t miss out. Essential. publishing date: 15.01.2003 author: Patricia RAW NERVE PROMOTIONSThe Czech Republic, 2002. This was unleashed on the public. Virtually unknown over here in the UK, but on listen to this for the first time, here, England, 2004, it seems sadly overlooked. A huge sounding cross of Black, Death, Gothic and Chaotic Metal, 7 piece Ador Dorath leave no space in your ears unfilled and unpunished, crossing Behemoth, Samael, Emperor, Ebony Lake and Bloodthorn, and adding in some great atmospheres of their own style, with operatic vocals and sudden changes of direction helping matters. "Circle" has a great alternation of vicious Satyricon inspired rasps and female operatics, an older Covenant and Arcturus feel and circus-esque horror keyboard sounds. Brilliant piece of art within this music. "Hail to majesty" is a fantastic epic in less than four minutes, vocally superb, quite frantic pace and with added dancing harpsichord, the title suggests exactly what we should be doing in this case. Absolutely huge song. A fantastic all round album that you must find. Another drastically necessary Czech band most people over here don't know about along with the mighty Forgotten Silence. Add these to your list now. publishing date: 28.12.2004 author: Paul rating: 9/10 TARTAREAN DESIREOne of the things most bands from Eastern Europe have in common is an infinite stife to be innovative and Ador Dorath obey their roots on this selfproduced full-length, being from the Czech Republic. I don’t know whether the people living in Eastern Europe are born with an innate will to be original or whether the musical climate there provides this freedom, but either way I am thankful. Ador Dorath, unlike many bands attempting to be original, never lose sight of their direction and never stray off track allowing the various influences to dominate each other. It’s a lethal symbiosis of unholy Nordic black metal, doom and progressive sounds, and they manage to combine it to make a highly enjoyable musical mash. If you like innovative extreme metal Ador Dorath is definitely worth a listen! author: Stefan Lejon rating: 7,5/10 |
